Professor Francisco Alonso, PhD, participated in the latest edition of Plaza Breakfast Forum, a debate forum that brought together representatives from the technological, business, and institutional sectors to address the major challenges facing digital infrastructure in the face of ever-growing demand.
The discussion covered key issues for economic and technological development: from the most suitable data center model—large-scale infrastructures versus distributed networks of micro-centers—to the energy and climate resilience of these facilities, water reuse, edge computing, and the role of efficient software and low-power AI as a competitive advantage.
The participants also analyzed how to turn this transition into an added-value opportunity for the region by engaging in the design, innovation, and intellectual property of future technologies.
