Digitalization and Innovation in Transport Systems: Representatives of the DS4M Mediterráneo Project Present at the First Regional Meeting for Latin America

Dr. Francisco Alonso, director of INTRAS, participated in the First Regional Meeting for Latin America, held from November 5 to 7, 2024, in Mexico.

During the event, Dr. Alonso presented the study on the “Penalty Point Driving Licence,” developed in collaboration with the Aleática Foundation, which led to a workshop focused on the importance of this system as a key tool for improving road safety.

Organized by the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, the meeting addressed the most urgent challenges facing the road safety community in Latin America, with the aim of strengthening the Alliance’s network and its regional chapter, promoting coordinated action among participating organizations.

Additionally, attendees were informed about INTRAS’s participation in the new DS4M Mediterráneo project, a groundbreaking initiative in data management for the Mediterranean Corridor, aimed at fostering cooperation and innovation in the field of intelligent transport systems.

The meeting also served to mobilize NGOs in the region ahead of the upcoming Global Ministerial Conference, with the goal of advocating for adequate investment to implement people-centered, evidence-based interventions to save lives.
